Report: Mapping hate speech on Facebook in Norway

Facebook is the main arena for online discussions and debates and 67 percent of all Norwegians log on daily. We have developed the first Scandinavian algorithm that recognises verbal attacks and hate in the comments on Facebook, which allows us to map the extent and scope of the problems: Where the hate and the attacks are, what creates it, and who it’s directed at. This helps countries and cities identify and combat extremism and hate, and provides insights on how to create better dialogues on social media. Read the report about our work in Norway.
